Emergency Call System is a communication system which provides drivers on roads/highways/tunnels with an ability to call and communicate with a highway attendance staff.
Emergency Roadside Telephone System consists of two parts – central unit, usually located in Operations and maintenance center (OMC) and roadside pillars or tunnel call units, located alongside the road or in tunnels in niches or directly on the tunnel walls.

Emergency roadside telephone (ERT) Central Unit is the heart of the ERT system. It represents an interface between ERT pillars or tunnel call units, handling desk or PC based system and public (PSTN or VoIP) telephone network.

Versatility and modular design of Telegra’s ERT system allows users to configure according to their needs. Fully digital architecture and DSP audio processing provide
    for superior sound quality.

Two types of ERT pillars can be connected to ERT Central Unit:
    · Roadside ERT pillars connected through single mode optical fiber*/**
    · Tunnel ERT call units connected through single mode optical fiber*/**

There are two types of user interface available for ERT Central control station
    · standalone handling desk,
    · PC software (delivered with speakers and pre–amplified microphone).

Using single mode fiber optic based system system can be extended up to 160 km. Fiber optic line roadside pillars or tunnel call units are connected through the line modules – maximum of 32 ERT pillars/call units can be connected to single line module.

*Roadside pillars and tunnel units with copper cable based communication are available upon request and it is possible to mix copper and fiber optic cable based systems.
**Custom designed pillars and GSM/Cellular system or VoIP based communication systems are available on the request.
  • ERT Central unit

    ERT Central Unit Features:

    • Connection of up to 32 pillars to one interface card, and possibility to use up to 16 units int the single system
    • Separate controller for each CU to provide better reliability
    • Freely defined number of PSTN or VoIP interfeces to the public telephone network
    • Interface to PC trough RS–232 interface or Ethernet connection
    • Interface for audio recording equipment
    • Periodical auto testing of pillars, status monitoring and notification of any errors

  • Roadside pillar communication unit

Emergency Roadside Telephone (ERT) pillar is a communication device providing signaling and full duplex digital audio transmission in redundant configuration utilizing only two fibers. Its reliability and endurance guarantee full functionality in the harshest of environments. It is ergonomically designed, very easy to use (only one big pushbutton), highly visible and easy to spot. Solar powered fiber optic ERT pillar in conjunction with battery backup allows operation without remote powering and therefore extends ERT system reach up to 160 km.

Communication with central control station is serial by means of SM fiber optic cables.

Two ERT pillars are connected to one communication unit, one on each side of the road. Pillar communication units are connected in series, forming two redundant full duplex serial loops with central control station, making system insensitive to the first failure in any communication line. Maximum of 16 communication units (32 pillars) can be connected in single optical communication line.

    · Copper cable based and GSM radio based versions are also available upon request.
  • Tunnel call unit

Tunnel version of the Emergency Roadside Telephone (ERT) is a communication device providing signaling and full duplex digital audio transmission in redundant configuration utilizing only two fibers. Its reliability and endurance guarantee full functionality in the harshest of environments. It is ergonomically designed, very easy to use (only one big pushbutton), highly visible and easy to spot. By using the single mode fiber as a communication medium, the ERT system operating range extends up to160 km.
Communication with central control station is serial by means of SM fiber optic cables. Two ERT call units are connected to one communication unit, one on each side of the tunnel. Communication units are connected in series, forming two redundant full duplex serial loops with central control station which makes system insensitive to the first failure in any communication line. Maximum of 16 communication units (32 pillars) can be connected in single optical telecommunication line version for direct deployment in tunnel tube – with high speaker power and roadside noise cancellation is also available.

Optical specifications: Cable type: 9/125 single mode - No of fibers: 2 - Connector type: ST, or user selectable
