Intelligent traffic control solutions for highways

  • Intelligent traffic control Solutions for Highways

Traffic monitoring, control and management systems play a major role in exploitation of modern highways and it is almost impossible to imagine provision of safe traffic environment without such systems.

These systems must be capable of providing the following in the shortest possible time:
    • Monitor all factors contributing to driving conditions and detect traffic incidents and other for the safety of traffic and its participants critical situations.
    • provide adequate solutions to all incident and for safety critical situations
    • Worn traffic participants of all incident and critical situations and provide them with maximal protection of unwanted consequences.
Following systems for surveillance, control and management of traffic are installed along the highway:
    • Video surveillance systems
    • Emergency Roadside Telephone System
    • Traffic Signaling System
    • Data transmission system
    • Over-height Vehicle Detection System
    • Automatic vehicle counter / classifying systems
    • Weigh in motion – detection of overloaded vehicle systems
    • Road weather information systems
All these systems are managed and controlled from central Traffic Maintenance and Management Center (TMMC) either directly or via local sub-centers which provide certain level of local control through a data communication (transmission) network which extends from TMMC to the farthest on road component.

In order to achieve required simplicity of system management and control to keep operator focused, it is important to insure that the complete interaction between the system and operator is achieved at single point through a single user interface. This is the essence of ergonomic integration which can only be achieved through adequate hardware and software.

topXview™ was developed with the goal to satisfy the stated "Complete Integration". It is capable of the following:
    • direct control of all implemented subsystems
    • integration of video system within the graphical user interface
    • interactive guidance in critical situations
    • logging, recording and analysis of all system events
    • automation of all alert processes and forwarding all important information, data and messages to the appropriate emergency services (i.e. fire department, emergency medical services, etc.)
    • simulation and training of all participants in the process
